The Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Radiation Protection,(DEP) is now requiring all radiographers to take 4 remote CEs every four years or 2 Contact Hours every four years. Contact Hours means live classroom training. The DEP will be verifying these hours when the radiation check is done on office x-ray equipment. The owner of the equipment is liable to the DEP for all persons using radiation equipment. There are potentially both civil and criminal penalties for non-compliance. This requirement is not required by the State Board of Dentistry but the content may be used towards your CE requirements for your license as a dentist, hygienist, or EFDA.
Both the Pennsylvania Dental Association, PDA, and the Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry,PAGD, have or are planning to have online classes.
