Act 31: What, when, and why does it mean something to me!

For all licensed dental professionals in Pennsylvania ACT 31 mandates child abuse training. It is probably the most pressing new requirement that we need to be addressing. Yes more mandatory training to add to your list of requirements. The good news is that it will count towards the CE credits that you will need anyway for your license. All licensed professionals have biannual requirements:

Dentists                            30 hours
Dental Hygienists             20 hours
EFDAs                               10 hours
This new requirement will be for 3 hours every licensing cycle. Remember licenses are coming due in March of 2015 so you need to be looking for a course. 50% of your CE credits can be done off site. An approved Webinar or Online training for Act 31 can count as long as you are otherwise getting 50% of your required credits for your license from lecture or clinical presentations.

The PA Family Support Alliance,The University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry,  PDA and PAGD are offering lecture and online options. As more providers are approved  I will update them here.
